About

Capt. (Ret.) Andrew Webb is a faculty member of l'École National d'Administration Publique and holds a research Chair on leadership in the public sector. Andrew holds a Ph.D in international management from Université Laval and a Master’s degree in public administration with a specialization in crisis management. His research focuses primarily on understanding leadership construction within cross-sector social partnerships. He previously worked at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business where he was the academic director of Sprott’s Project-Based Service-Learning initiative as well as co-director of the Centre for Research on Inclusion at Work. Project-Based Service Learning As academic director of the Project-Based Service-Learning initiative at the Sprott School of Business, Andrew brought his years of experience in experiential learning that he previously acquired during his tenure at Laval University to help co-develop a unique leadership learning environment that not only better prepared students for the workforce but also provide a safe space for learning leadership skills and perspectives that will be needed to face tomorrow’s challenges. Research Andrew’s research examines the relationship between public, private, and nonprofit organizations who come together in multi-sector social partnerships take on grand challenges. Andrew is particularly interested in how cross-sector social partnerships are established, managed, and led, as they tackle the world’s grand challenges—even when the fundamental objectives of the various partners are completely different. His research uses actor-network theory and semiotics to examine these unique relationships. Moreover, this holistic approach, which includes perspectives from the corporate sponsors, the nonprofits, as well as the governments, triangulates how the actors in these atypical organizations co-create the critical direction, alignment, and commitment needed to impact today’s grand challenges.
